These Analogue Tachographs are a calibrated instrument, specified in vehicles operated under the EC driver’s hours regulations, and registered up to May 2006, which is capable of recording time, speed and distance covered on to a wax covered paper chart some people call this a tacho Disc or more commonly known as a tachograph chart. These charts are locked into the unit and last up to 24 hours recording the activities of the particular vehicle and type of Analogue Tacho VDO MTCO 1324 Tachograph.
All these VDO Tachographs come in a specific model and type to fit your vehicle which also comes in 12/24 volt and you can order ADR for pet reg vehicles.
The 1324 VDO MTCO tacho is a cassette type of recording device and the 1318 tacho is classed as the old style tachograph model now compared with the very latest up to date all singing and dancing DTCO 1381 Tachograph from VDO. The old style can be changed to the new version of digital tachograph but this is operator choice, not law
